The course is a broad based introduction to the production arts covering the areas of Stage Technologies, Design, Stage Management and Health & Safety procedures that need to be considered whilst working on productions/performance events. The module offers students the chance to get a foundational insight into these key areas of theatre production, supported and guided by professional staff.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the module students should be able to:
Demonstrate an understanding of the role of a Theatre Designer and the techniques used in a theatre and production context;
Demonstrate an understanding of the role of a Technical Designer and the skills required for the preparation and running of technical equipment in a performance environment;
Demonstrate an understanding of the roles within a Stage Management and Production Team, and their roles within a professional performance/event environment;
Demonstrate an understanding of the health and safety factors that surround theatrical production, and how these can be managed and documented.
