Description This module explores the ideological and performative territory of Immersive and interactive approaches to performance in both practice and reception. Students will develop a critical approach to immersive and interactive practices alongside an understanding of the practical approaches to this distinctive contemporary performance phenomenon. Students will have the opportunity to explore in theory and practice immersive performance dramaturgies and the implications for the audience. The theory will be imbricated in the practical delivery and workshops will be Praxical.
Learning Outcomes By the end of the module students should be able to:
  • Synthesise their understanding of various key indicative practitioners within the arena of immersive and interactive performance practices;
  • Critically apply an understanding of indicative examples of diverse concepts of interactivity and immersion;
  • Critically locate and contextualise approaches to immersion and interactivity in performance through practical strategies and methodologies.
