This module builds on the knowledge, understanding and skills achieved at level C and prepares students for the demands of level H study. The dance solos are now selected by dance discipline, according to the individual strengths and interests of each student. Stylistic and interpretive aspects are now emphasised with more depth, along with guidance from tutors and self-rehearsal. Students will choose one dance discipline in which to be examined. The technical classes in the dance modules underpin the expectations of the specific skills required in each discipline. The focus of the module is to sharpen and refine the student’s ability to replicate and demonstrate choreography with the necessary stylistic nuances as directed by the choreographer and/or module tutor.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the module students should be able to:
Present the effective application of the aesthetic concepts underpinning the relevant dance discipline encompassed in the performance of the chosen solo;
Demonstrate an awareness of, and application of, musicality and style as appropriate to the solo;
Perform a solo in one selected dance discipline with assurance and detailed embodiment of the style.
