Performers are central to our experience of film and television. This module seeks to evaluate the contributions professional and non-professional actors make to style and meaning on screen. Working across genres, periods and nationalities, we will analyse performance in synthesis with compositional features such as framing, editing, lighting, costume and sound. We will aim to develop a critical vocabulary that responds to the challenge of articulating value and achievement in screen performance.

By the end of the module students should be able to:
Demonstrate an advanced understanding of the relationships between performance, value and achievement on screen;
