The module is a broad based introduction to the techniques for staging a production; the application of health and safety in the theatre and working on productions and performance events both backstage and front of house. The focus is on acquiring skills through experiential learning in a collaborative environment, working alongside peers and staff on the successful delivery of full-scale performance work in our theatre.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the module students should be able to:
Demonstrate an understanding of the craft of preparing a venue for a theatrical production;
Demonstrate an understanding of the craft and process of running front of house activity in a performance environment;
Demonstrate an understanding of the principles of basic set construction and design techniques used to enhance/realise the concept for a production;
Demonstrate an understanding of the health and safety factors that are associated with set construction, production period and front of house activity, and how these can be managed and documented.
