The BSc Business Management with Communications pathways each build both knowledge and skills to meet the contemporary needs of organisations. This module requires a pre -final year placement which is either Communications or Marketing Communications focused to further develop knowledge and skills, gained at intermediate level, in a workplace setting. The onus will be on students to find a placement, with the advice and assistance of the Business School and the University Careers Service where appropriate. This module allows students to apply theory to practice and develop the transferable skills underpinning the QAA skills benchmarks in a live working situation. This gives added value to students in terms of their employability. Hence, Advanced Communications Practice allows students to apply theory to praxis and gain an understanding of how theoretical models can be applied in the real world, whilst further developing the key communications skills that employers today are increasingly seeking. The taught and reflective part of the module, post-placement at the commencement of the final year, enables students to analyse in depth working communications-based practices and assimilate wider and more advanced associated theoretical frameworks.
