This module will explore some of the global challenges which influence and impact upon the practice of teaching and coaching in Sport, Physical Education and Physical Activity contexts. Drawing upon sociological and pedagogical theories, students will explore current global challenges in the context of their own individual experiences and personal development. They will also use these theories to critically reflect on innovative approaches to pedagogical practice as leaders, practitioners and global citizens of the future.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the module students should be able to:
Acknowledge the influence of key theoretical concepts and standpoints on participation in sport and physical activity at all levels
Apply theoretical constructs to their own experiences and explore these in a reflective manner
Develop and reflect upon programmes of learning devised for individuals and groups, based upon their specific learning circumstances and learning needs
Critically analyse the nature of the knowledge base for teaching and coaching and how different processes of knowledge development can lead to the production of new knowledge and practice
