This module will introduce students to the fundamental concepts of sports science related to exercise physiology and metabolism. Students will apply the theoretical concepts to sports coaching and teaching practice. Topics will include cardiorespiratory, musculoskeletal, and neuroendocrine physiology and their adaptations to exercise and training. It will also include nutrition and energy systems.

By the end of the module students should be able to:
Have a good working knowledge of the pulmonary, cardiovascular, musculoskeletal, nervous, and endocrine systems.
Understand how the properties of each physiological system support the ability to sustain the conditions experienced during exerciseUnderstand and interpret metabolic and biochemical regulation in the context of exercise training and supplementation.Apply the working knowledge of the physiological and metabolic systems to coaching and teaching practice.
