Description This module supports the ongoing development of analytical and research skills and prepares students for undertaking a dissertation in the final year. It will provide students with the opportunity to learn about and explore a range of approaches, research questions and methodologies used in the study of politics and international relations. In so doing this module will enable students to develop a critical understanding of the processes involved in designing a research project in political and international relations and prepare them for writing their own original research proposal.
Learning Outcomes By the end of the module students should be able to:
  • Understand and be able to apply a range of methodologies
  • Have a detailed understanding of the research process
  • Understand how to collect and analyse data and construct and support a sustained argument.
  • Understand why the disciplines of political science and international relations are characterised by diversity and pluralism
