Description
Students are given two options for the last four weeks of the summer term. The first is an opportunity to study a topic of their choice (dental or non-dental) and acquire some of the skills, attitudes and knowledge necessary for the planning, execution and reporting of a small research project.
The second is to use the time for an additional period of clinical experience to consolidate their knowledge and skills in patient management and treatment. The particular clinical experience will be individually tailored to the needs of the student.

By the end of the module students should be able to:
Demonstrate self-directed learning and organisational skills
Identify and critically appraise relevant literature to support their learning
Demonstrate greater experience across a range of clinical dental skills

Submission of a written report with justification time spent on the project and a reflection of what has been learnt. Maximum 2000 words.
OR
Non-elective report: Submission of a short written report (max 1500 words) outlining time spent with reflection on what learnt with respect to clinical training and critical evaluation of one peer-reviewed publication.Reassessment:
