The School of Social Policy have developed a new virtual semester abroad programme with the University of Amsterdam and University of Lund. The programme explores the theme of equality, diversity and inclusion. The virtual programme will work in the same way as a semester abroad but without the requirement for students to travel and with the additional advantage of it being a three-way exchange. Students will therefore be studying modules at the three Universities simultaneously.
The programme will be open to 15 students from each of the three institutions (n=45 in total) who will take three modules – one delivered by each University. The modules will be delivered entirely online, with online lectures and online synchronous seminars that involve students from all three universities.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the module students should be able to:
Map and analyse a range of social problems from an international perspective, and explore different ways in which national and local governments have responded to them.
Understand and compare internationally different theoretical perspectives and policies related to equality, diversity and inclusion.
Understand critically how the needs of different social groups are tackled and how far they are met by social security policies internationally.
Demonstrate an awareness of research methodologies, methods and ethics in relation to issues of equality, diversity and inclusion at an international level.
