Description	This is an interdisciplinary module that allows students to examine sustainability through the lens of several disciplines that fall broadly within arts, humanities and law. The students will examine some of the following topics: sustainability and interdisciplinary research; the concept of sustainable development; climate change; sustainability and environmental justice, environmental ethics; creative ecologies and environmental activity. In examining these topics, students will also examine particular polices/initiatives to understand how sustainability is implemented in practice. The module will be delivered by academics from different disciplines which will allow students to engage in an interdisciplinary discussion with some of the mentioned topics. Students will also have an opportunity to learn about sustainability initiatives at the UoB campus.
Learning Outcomes	By the end of the Module, students should be able to: Demonstrate a good understanding of sustainability and different aspects of this concept, including environmental, economic and social dimensions Examine and evaluate the challenges surrounding the implementation of sustainable development principle and policies. Analyse and assess the role of disciplines such as arts, humanities and law have in interpreting and implementing this concept.

Assessment Methods & Exceptions	Assessment 1, 2000 words essay (50%) 2, One of the following options (50%). Students have to commit to one or the other by the end of week 6. a) The mark for this group work will essentially be a group mark. However, we will ask groups to describe (and sign off) the contributions of individual members in a separate document. If there are problems of free-riding, we will be able to adjust the group mark for an individual student. However, rather than penalising, we will focus on preventing these issues through formative guidance and support. If there is an insufficient number of students interested in a group presentation to form at least one group, the few students interested in this will be given the alternative option of an individual presentation Students will submit the supporting material for their presentation (e.g. powerpoint presentation, handout) on Canvas to record submission before the deadline and for the benefit of the moderator and external examiner. b) 2000 words essay. Method of Reassessment Essay - Students will be provided with a list of questions for both components of the assessment. . If failure of a component results in failure of the module, they will be asked to choose any of the questions they have not attempted in the first instance. Group work – students will be provided with topics for their group presentations. We will make sure to have longer list of topics so we can use some for those students who fail. If more than one student fails, a group will be created, If a single student fails, the student will be asked to prepare a shorter presentation and/or the scope of the topic will be narrower.
