Adaptation Theory and Practice offers an introduction to the theory of adaptation and its implementation in culture. The cultural power of adaptations can be seen everywhere – with examples including films, television, theatre, video games, and graphic novels. This module explores the ideas behind how and why adaptations occur. Seminars will engage with the growing area of adaptation studies, as well as the different types of adaptation that have continued to proliferate in the last few decades. Lectures will give a grounding in the ideas of the field, as well as prepare you for your assessment. Like the field, this module is interdisciplinary and seeks to make connections between different forms of art.
