This module seeks to provide an understanding of leadership from the perspective of "self". The first part of the module introduces theories and models of self-leadership as well as identifying and supporting the development of skills and competencies that enhance an individuals' personal awareness of their own approach to managing and leading "self". This part of the module focuses on self-awareness, self-management, personal accountability and self-influencing behaviours thereby providing an opportunity to recognise individual strengths and weaknesses that may impact approaches to personal development. The second part of the module is focussed on the role of reflection in leading oneself. Students will be required to reflect on their experiences, particularly those associated with their own personal development, performance and leading self in the context of project work. Indicative content in these areas will also include both conceptual and practical issues associated with both the completion and recording of reflection.

By the end of the module students should be able to:
Critically evaluate and apply conceptual frameworks associated with the understanding, of self in order to effectively relate to and manage self and others
Recognise skills and competencies that enhance an individuals' personal awareness of their own approach to managing their individual "self" and identity as a leader and identify and use relevant approaches for their development
Describe and critically evaluate theories of reflective practice
Plan, implement and critically evaluate practical strategies associated with completing and recording personal and professional reflections associated with leading self
