Description The Project offers students the opportunity of undertaking independent research on a topic in the field of Digital Media and Communications. The Project is the culmination of the degree programme, allowing students to draw on the analytical and critical skills they have developed throughout their studies to develop and deliver an independently-conceived research project on a subject relevant to the discipline. The types of project that students might undertake range from theoretical scholarly work on a problem in the discipline through to creative, social, civic or entrepreneurial projects that have more direct impact on local communities, organisations and initiatives. Students will be supported in the curation of their project by a supervisor, and will be guided through the module with lectures devoted to the skills and knowledge required to complete the project successfully.
Learning Outcomes By the end of the module students should be able to:
  • Demonstrate a high level of expertise and enterprise in the collection, organisation and
  • presentation of materials appropriate to media and communication research
  • Demonstrate the ability to formulate and pursue independent research to a successful conclusion.
  • Demonstrate the ability to write up the results of a major piece of independent research in the form of a substantial, coherently organised and persuasively argued project
