Description This Personal Academic Tutorial (PAT) module will support Liberal Arts and Natural Sciences students and encourage the development of the key skills required for their year abroad and final year, especially the project. It will build on LC Personal and Academic Skills for Interdisciplinary Study in Year 1. The module will also continue to develop and map a range of academic and future employability skills that students will build upon throughout their learning journeys.

All students will be encouraged to engage with Careers Services and schemes such as PSA (Personal Skills Award).
Learning Outcomes By the end of the module students should be able to:
  • Demonstrate self-organisation and time management
  • Demonstrate self-reliance
  • Understand the importance of reflection and the application of feedback
  • Demonstrate critical analysis
  • Demonstrate independent thinking and working
  • Engage with the research being undertaken across UoB and with the wider academic community of principal investigators and postgraduate students
  • Communicate complex ideas to a ‘lay’ audience and those based in a different discipline
