Description
The students are allocated an individual project, in a subject area of their choosing, After an initial period of background work, they carry out the necessary design and practical work to complete their project. Assessment is through a formal report and a practical demonstration of the work to academic members of staff.
Learning Outcomes
To get the students, under supervision of an academic member of staff, to carry out an individual project and to present the work both through a final report and demonstration. On completion of this module, students should be able to:
Study a problem independently
Gather, organise and distil information from various sources, summarise the information succinctly, and draw general conclusions
Exercise initiative and independence in the planning and execution of a project and manage time and resources competently
Design a solution to an engineering problem, which will include one or more of the following: Construction and testing of hardware or software solutions/ Simulation/modelling and testing / Analysis and inference
