Students should have prior knowledge of the basics of Greek 1 or may be refreshing GCSE knowledge. Greek 1 is usually, but not always, taken before Greek 2. Exchange students who have a semester or even a year of Greek (depending on intensity of tuition) will typically take Greek 2.
This module assumes knowledge of the basic principles of Greek grammar and the more common inflectional forms, along with a good grasp of basic vocabulary. Students will build on this foundation to gain a knowledge of all common noun and verb forms, along with a wider range of grammatical constructions and a wider vocabulary.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the module students should be able to:
Deploy knowledge of all the common forms of classical Greek verbs and nouns;
Recognize most common grammatical constructions of Greek
Recall and deploy a reasonably extensive vocabulary.
Translate short passages of un-adapted Greek into English independently
