Exclusions
Description In this module students consolidate linguistic skills gained in Greek 1 and 2, or at A-level or equivalent. Students work through selected aspects of advanced Greek grammar, continue to add to the range of their Greek vocabulary, and practise unseen translation. They work on selected literary texts in prose and/or verse, using scholarly commentaries and developing their dictionary skills as well as their commentary skills. Students learn to comment and reflect on their own and others' translations.
Learning Outcomes By the end of the module students should be able to:
  • Demonstrate sound knowledge and understanding of Greek grammatical structures;
  • Translate with fluency and comment critically on Greek texts from a seen selection;
  • Analyse and translate unseen passages with fluency.

Assessment Methods & Exceptions Assessment:

1 x Portfolio of commentary and translation exercises (50%)
1 x 1.5 hour examination (50%)
