Description
This module will introduce the various elements of organising a sports / physical activity event (e.g., tournament, sport competition, fun runs etc.). The module will explore the theory and practice of the management and organisation of events including planning processes, project management tools and techniques and commercial, financial, legal and logistical elements of event management. In addition, aspects of marking theory and practice will be explored and applied in the context of sport and physical activity contexts.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the module students should be able to:
Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of theoretical aspects of sport event management and marketing.
Critically synthesise and apply theory and research to devise a management plan for a sport-related event.
Critically synthesise and apply theory and research to devise a marketing plan for a sport-related event.
Interpret and critically evaluate sport event management scenarios and provide appropriate explanations about relevant decision-making.

Assessment: Essay – 50% Group (or individual) presentation – 50% reassessment: If the overall grade achieved is below 40%, students will need to resit the failed components only.
