Exclusions
Description This Year 1 non-credit bearing module commences in semester 1 and spans the whole academic year. In this module, students will record and reflect on their personal and professional experiences and development through their personal ePortfolio. This required component of Year 1 is the start of a process that runs throughout the four years of the MPharm degree. It is essential preparation for developing as a reflective practitioner, identifying learning needs and engaging in continuing professional development. Students will also become familiar with the General Pharmaceutical Council training and education standards and practice mapping these to their learning and development.

Students will be supported through face-to-face contact with academic Personal Academic Tutors, Senior Tutors, and practice-based Pharmacy Professionals to engage in learning tasks linked to their professional experience placements and other Year 1 modules.

This module has a series of tutorials focused on the development of general academic skills, such as time management, academic writing, academic integrity and referencing. This supports students to develop as efficient learners and helps build their confidence and engagement.
Learning Outcomes By the end of the module students should be able to:
  • Demonstrate the standards of a student professional in the practice and professional settings showing an awareness of the relevant codes of professional conduct.
  • Demonstrate developing reflective skills in relation to personal and professional experiences and development.
  • Identify learning and development needs and demonstrate proactivity in how to address these.
  • Evidence professional and personal development through effective engagement with the ePortfolio process and academic skills tutorials.
Assessment
Assessment Methods & Exceptions Assessment:

This non-credit bearing module is a must pass component of the course. Students are expected to demonstrate reflective practice and continued professional and personal development through engagements with the ePortfolio, their Personal Academic Tutor and academic skills support tutorials. Students are required to submit professional reflections, personal reflections and engage with group tutorials. The professional and personal reflections are assessed as pass or fail whereas the group tutorials are assessed through engagement via attendance.

Reassessment:

Submit the required reflections for both professional and personal reflection requirement. For any fail of the group tutorial, students will be required to submit an additional reflection based on self-directed development and learning from the group tutorial topics. All will be assessed as pass or fail.
