Exclusions
Description This Year 3 non-credit bearing module commences in semester 1 and spans the whole academic year.

Students will record and reflect on their personal and professional experiences and development through their personal ePortfolio. This required component of Year 3 builds on the ePortfolio in Years 1 and 2 and continues a process that runs throughout the MPharm degree. It is essential preparation for developing as a reflective practitioner, identifying learning needs and engaging in continuing professional development. Students will also become familiar with the General Pharmaceutical Council training and education standards and practice mapping these to their learning and development.

Students will be supported through face-to-face contact with academic personal academic tutors, senior tutors, and practice-based pharmacy professionals to engage in learning tasks linked to their professional experience placements and other Year 3 modules. Students should be able to demonstrate progress against outstanding learning needs identified in Year 2.

This module has a series of tutorials focused on the development of general academic skills in preparation for Year 4 research projects, such as the use of referencing software and ideas for elective placements. This supports students to develop as efficient learners and helps build their confidence and engagement.
Learning Outcomes By the end of the module students should be able to:
  • Demonstrate the standards of a student professional in the practice setting showing an awareness of the relevant codes of professional conduct.
  • Demonstrate reflective skills in relation to personal and professional experiences and development.
  • Identify learning and development needs and demonstrate proactivity in addressing these.
  • Plan and organise a half to one day placement with a healthcare (or related) professional to meet identified learning and development needs.
  • Evidence professional and personal development through effective engagement with the ePortfolio process and academic skills tutorials, showing progress against outstanding personal learning needs identified in Year 2.
  • Demonstrate evidence and reflection on applications of pharmacy knowledge in relation to clinical decision-making or in professional situations as experienced during placement or simulated work-place learning.
