This module will be delivered in Year 4, in semester 1 only.
Leadership This module in intended to introduce students to the key concepts of leadership in pharmacy and the wider healthcare system, including clinical and managerial roles. Students will be introduced to different leadership approaches and techniques, and through reflection and discussion, have a greater awareness of how leadership can influence team performance and the importance of both self and situation awareness. This will be framed in the context of service delivery to champion person-centred care.
Elective This component of the module allows students to explore, in detail, the training, the role and the clinical / multi-professional context of a field of pharmacy or health profession. The main learning approaches are through observation and discussion.
Students will select a clinical or professional speciality of interest, develop personal learning outcomes (agreed with their tutor) that they would like to achieve upon completion of the elective placement days, and arrange the placement days around their own availability. Students are encouraged to embrace active involvement, with hands on learning of practical skills / patient examination / supervised real-time decision making, and leadership and mentorship skills.
Students will also share their experience by presenting a short case presentation session to the Year 3 pharmacy students, assessed by a member of academic staff. Students will also provide a reflective account of their experiences, which will be related back to their personal learning outcomes.

Disseminate knowledge form elective learning experiences, including any professional decision-making.

Reassessment:
Students who fail to achieve a minimum module mark of 50% will be reassessed in every element (examination and coursework) in which they achieved less than 50%.
Students who achieve a minimum module mark of 50% but fail to achieve more than 40% in any elements, will have to resit those elements.
