Exclusions
Description This Year 4 non-credit bearing module commences in semester 1 and spans the whole academic year.

Students will continue to record and reflect on their personal and professional experiences and development through their personal ePortfolio. This required component of Year 4 builds on the ePortfolio in Years 1--3 and continues a process that runs throughout the MPharm degree. It is essential preparation for developing as a reflective practitioner, identifying learning needs and engaging in continuing professional development.

In Year 4, students will be expected to record and reflect on the ways in which they have used knowledge to deal with complex and unpredictable situations: showcasing examples where they have used initiative and taken personal responsibility and describing how they have developed the habit of independent learning required for their continuing professional development.

Students will continue to map their learning and development against the General Pharmaceutical Council training and education standards.

Students will be supported through face-to-face contact with academic personal academic tutors, senior tutors, and practice-based pharmacy professionals to engage in learning tasks linked to their professional experience placements and other Year 4 modules. Students should be able to demonstrate progress against outstanding learning needs identified in Year 3.

This module has a tutorial focused on the Foundation year, and what to expect as a Foundation trainee.
Learning Outcomes By the end of the module students should be able to:
  • Demonstrate the standards of a student professional in the practice setting showing an awareness of the relevant codes of professional conduct.
  • Demonstrate the recording, review, and reflection of evidence to create and revise professional development plans required for future continuing professional development.
  • Demonstrate critical thinking, self-direction and originality in tackling and solving problems encountered during university learning experiences or placement at a professional level.
  • Demonstrate evidence and reflection on applications of pharmacy knowledge in relation to clinical decision-making or in professional situations experienced during placement or simulated work-place learning.
