Description This module will introduce students to the various elements of organising a golf event. At some time golf establishments will have to plan and manage a specific event or tournament. The module will explore the theory and practice of the management and organisation of events including planning processes, project management tools and techniques and commercial, financial, legal and logistical elements of event management. In addition, students will be expected to demonstrate their competence in the interpretation of the Rules of Golf.
Learning Outcomes By the end of the module students should be able to:
  • Devise a plan for a golf event and participate in the management of the event.
  • Apply project management techniques to the management of an event and evaluate their use.
  • Critically reflect on the outcomes of the event in relation to event management theory.
  • Interpret specific golf rules scenarios and give appropriate rulings, decisions and explanations.
Assessment 39291-01 : Planning and delivery of a Golf Event (30%) : Coursework (30%)
39291-02 : 2000 word reflective essay : Coursework (70%)
Assessment Methods & Exceptions Assessment:

1. Planning and delivery of a Golf Event (30%) For this practical element of the assessment, students will be individually assessed on their contribution to their team and the skills which they demonstrate.
2. Critical Reflection (70%) (2,000 words, excluding reference list)
