Description This 120 credit ‘International Year Abroad’ module provides students with the opportunity to study abroad for a year following completion of Year 2 of their programme. The module is awarded by the host institution on a pass/fail basis and has no impact on degree classification. Following the module (year), the students returns to the host institution to complete their degree (e.g. complete Year 3 as required). The module (year) undertaken by the student will typically (although not always) be related to the programme of study at the home institution. Where taken, the module (year) is therefore additional to the programme of study for which a degree is awarded and if successful, results in ‘with international year’ being added to the name of the degree.
Learning Outcomes By the end of the module students should be able to:
  • Apply and demonstrate knowledge in the area of sport, exercise and rehabilitation science-related subjects commensurate with that of other students following a standard undergraduate programme.
  • Adjust to a new culture.
  • Demonstrate the ability to study sport, exercise and rehabilitation-science related topics at an international institution and to appreciate the possible differences between the UK and overseas.
  • Improve the use of a foreign language in a non-English speaking country, where applicable.
  • Take personal responsibility for acting in a professional and ethical manner at a host institution.
