Description
The module allows the student to complete a year of study related to computer science in an approved institution in another country. Such study may include a component of the language of instruction, where this is not the student's native language. Computer science topics studied will be specified by the Module Co-ordinator to be appropriate to a second year Computer Science student at the University of Birmingham.Normally a student studying in his or her native language will be expected to undertake 2/3 of the relevant year in that institution; a student studying in another language will be expected to undertake 1/3 of the relevant year. (These proportions include a substantial allowance made for necessary individual study, eg to meet different prerequisites or become proficient in the language of instruction).
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the module the student should be able to:Demonstrate appropriate achievement in computer science topics via study in another country;Discuss aspects of the culture and higher education system of the country of the host institution with particular reference to Computer Science.
