Description The module introduces the concepts of sustainability including definitions, modelling, resources and reporting. It considers the theoretical and methodological basis of approaches designed to quantify the impacts associated with choices made at different stages of a business or product life cycle, and tools designed to evaluate relative environmental and sustainability performance. The module is centred on analysis and discussions of case studies and/or simulated examples. At the end of the module students should be able to articulate a high level plan for addressing sustainability within their own job role, or for addressing challenges discovered on the analysis of the case studies and examples.
Learning Outcomes By the end of the module students should be able to:
  • Formulate and analyse a complex problem to reach a conclusion substantiated by a deep understanding
  • Communicate a plan of action to an audience with mixed backgrounds e.g. priorities, expertise.
  • Develop original and creative responses to problems and issues related to sustainability
Assessment 39506-02 : Individual Assignment - 2000 Words : Coursework (100%)
Assessment Methods & Exceptions Assessment:

Individual assignment weighted 100% covering all learning outcomes.
Form of assessment to be decided by module lead e.g. reflection on practice (2000 words), report (6 pages), recorded presentation (15 minutes), media production (5 minutes).

Reassessment:

Re-assessment of failed component (copy original assessment) marked by original marker on timescale agreed with student.

If feedback has already been released to the cohort then an alternative form of presentation may be requested.
