This module will help students to develop and tailor their translation skills to workplace scenarios in which translation plays a key role. As well as focusing on translation technique and writing skills, the workshops will provide hands-on experience of professional translation software and best practice guidance on post-editing of machine translation. Students will work on non-fiction texts both in groups and as individuals, translating from their language of study into English.

show awareness of appropriate and viable syntactic, semantic and pragmatic strategies for translating
fact-check and edit their translations to a professional standard
carry out basic translation functions using a professional translation tool, such as Trados
