This module explores the history and management of horticultural heritage (plants, gardens, and curated landscapes). It provides students, through lectures, seminars, workshops and practical skill-based learning, delivered at the botanic gardens and accredited museums of UoB Winterbourne House and Gardens by expert academics and practitioners, with the opportunity to explore, learn, examine and develop practical skills in the field of heritage landscapes, horticulture, ecology and botany. This will enable the students to practically apply the knowledge and skills to evaluate how horticultural heritage can be managed to support environmental and social sustainability and develop creative and innovative solutions to support wider net zero targets, tackling climate change and wider global challenges.
