This module aligns to NMC (2019) Standards of Proficiency for Midwives Domains1,2,3,4 and 5. Through engagement with a virtual midwifery caseload, learners will develop confidence and capability in the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care as an autonomous midwife working in partnership with women and childbearing people, with midwifery colleagues and across wider maternity services. Learners will develop skills such as time management, prioritising, escalating care and delegating tasks safely, problem solving, creative thinking and team working. They will use evidence, clinical reasoning and decision-making tools, knowledge of psychosocial factors and related interventions, anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology to analytically and systematically formulate, and justify, safe and effective, personalised clinical decisions. Learners will utilise reflective processes to consider their learning and professional development needs and aspirations post registration to enable them to effectively lead and manage midwifery care. By engaging with a virtual caseload, learners will continue to develop and enhance their digital literacy.
