Description	LC Research Methods (Assessment Block 2) assesses knowledge and understanding of the research processes and methods and the analytical, statistical, and technical skills psychologists use to study mind and behaviour. Through a combination of written report and examination students will demonstrate their knowledge and understanding of how to collect, analyse, and present quantitative and qualitative data and evaluate quantitative and qualitative research findings and theory.
Learning Outcomes	By the end of the module students should be able to: Conduct (with guidance) psychological studies involving simple qualitative analyses. Conduct (with guidance) simple research studies and summarise the processes involved. Present the results of psychological research within a written report format. Write reports that are clear, well-organised and persuasive Describe the different approaches that are taken by research psychologists. Describe the scientific method of knowledge acquisition and its advantage over common sense Describe the need for principled ethical research in psychology. Demonstrate the ability to think logically and critically about their own and other people’s work. Demonstrate the ability to use physical and electronic facilities for communication, knowledge acquisition, and presentation of work. Demonstrate the ability to use reflective self-assessment to revise their own writing. Demonstrate the ability to critically read and interpret a research paper. Understand the concept of plagiarism in a scientific context.
