Description
This module will be delivered in Year 4, in semester 1 only. It provides students with the opportunity to utilise the knowledge and experience gained through the programme (including knowledge of research methods in Year 3) to seek to answer a relevant research question in a robust and scientific manner. The project will allow the student to demonstrate higher level skills of analysis, self-direction, independent thought, creativity, and autonomy.
Projects will be offered in all areas of the Pharmacy Curriculum and be aligned with the research interests of staff within the College of Medical and Dental Science, along with those of external providers of supervision from the hospital sector or the primary care sector. Projects may be carried out in university laboratories, healthcare settings, or be desk based. However, all projects will involve the independent analysis and interpretation of data and dissemination of findings. This module is linked to the research methods module.
The overall module assessment will consist of two elements namely scientific (conference) poster and final written report (in the form of journal article) which will also include a logbook. A presentation day will be arranged where students will present their progress in the format of a poster. They will be assessed on content and design, along with an assessment of the ability of the student to answer questions based on their work in front of two academic assessors.
