Description
The module will introduce the students to the processes involved in drug development from concept to market. The various means of drug discovery such as investigation of natural products and rational drug design will be considered. The students will then go on to cover the scientific and legal requirements for developing a promising new drug release to the market.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the module the student should be able to:
Demonstrate an understanding of the many routes from which potential drugs can be sourced
Appreciate the complex procedures involved in developing a potential drug, including manufacturing, scientific and legal issues
