Description
Advanced Clinical Practice Portfolio (Year 1) is a non-credit bearing mandatory module within the MSc Advanced Clinical Practice which will facilitate the professional requirements of a portfolio record of academic and clinical achievements required by the Apprenticeship Standards for Advanced Clinical Practice (2018) and the Multi-professional Framework for ACP (HEE, 2017).
The module will promote the formal evidencing of work- based learning supporting the competencies outlined within the 4 pillars for advanced clinical practice (clinical practice, research, leadership and management and education) combined with the theoretical underpinning delivered via the Masters level preparation.
The learning and teaching approaches will facilitate the compilation of robust evidence to support the individual competencies outlined within the 4 pillars of advanced practice, with work-based sign off of competencies from a designated clinical assessor.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the module students should be able to:
Demonstrate synthesis and application of theoretical content acquired from concurrent Masters level studies in year 1 by successful integration of new knowledge and skills into practice, evidenced through development of an ePortfolio of evidence.
Critically reflect upon work-based learning activities during year 1 of the Masters programme and exposures which have informed individual development with respect to the 4 pillars of advanced clinical practice: clinical practice, research, leadership and management and education, demonstrating advancement of practice through these activities.
Evidence progression in the clinical, leadership, research and education pillars, over the duration of year 1 of the Masters programme, through the sign off of individual competencies relating to the 4 pillars of advanced clinical practice, utilising a taxonomy of achievement scale.
Demonstrate an understanding and synthesis of work-based learning and theoretical underpinning through the successful completion of a mandatory viva voce exploring the 4 pillars of advanced clinical practice through work-based experiences during semester 3 of year 1 of the Masters programme.
