Exclusions
Description

Students registered for the degree of MSci are required to undertake a major research project, in an area of their choice. The research topic is determined by consultation with academic members of staff. During their fourth year, students join the research group of their project supervisor to undertake the project work. The results of their work are communicated using a written dissertation and an oral presentation; students are also required to attend an interview (viva voce) with their assessors.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the module students should be able to:

  • Demonstrate an ability to carry out research-based project;
  • Demonstrate an ability for independent learning, time management and team work (i.e. as part of a research group/team);
  • Demonstrate an ability for reflection upon and analysis of results, and for forward planning;
  • Demonstrate an ability to communicate the results of their research using written and oral methods.
