Exclusions
Description This module forms part of a major project which in total is worth 50 credits. This module comprises a seminar to staff and peers, a viva to probe the student's overall project performance and understanding, and an assessment of good practice in carrying out the project, e.g. with evidence including note keeping.
Learning Outcomes By the end of the module the student should be able to:Explain the work carried out in the project to an audience comprising a mix of teaching staff, research staff and peers;Display an understanding of the work by response to questions at any appropriate level;Defend the work by means of a viva conducted by academic staff;Demonstrate the ability to conduct a project in a coherent and ordered fashion, in particular display the ability to keep a laboratory notebook, attend meetings with the supervisor and think ahead during the conduct of the project.
Assessment 18795-01 : Project work : Coursework (100%)
Assessment Methods & Exceptions Assessment:
100% coursework consisting of: project seminar (25 mins presentation + 10 mins discussion), viva (30 mins), and project work (distributed throughout term)
