Description The aim of the module is to provide students with knowledge and understanding of key occupational health and safety matters, including the ability to critically evaluate key concepts and models and also to achieve a level of technical competence in preparation for enforcement/advisory roles on graduation.
Learning Outcomes

By the end of the module the student should be able to:

  • Recognise, critically evaluate and communicate clearly and with the reasoning, judgements on occupational health, safety and wellbeing factors
  • Demonstrate a systematic understanding of the control mechanisms by which occupational hazards can be managed
  • Demonstrate a conceptual understanding of the UK legal framework relating to occupational health and safety
  • To demonstrate a practical understanding of a range of approaches to promote safety management and culture
