Description This course introduces students to a range of skills and techniques which are useful to Geographers. These include interpersonal skills, team working, presentations, training in essay writing and a variety of both human and physical geography field techniques.
Learning Outcomes By the end of the module the student should have:
  • An enhanced knowledge of appropriate study skills including oral presentation
  • A working knowledge of the university library and appropriate e-resources
  • An enhanced knowledge of how to work in a team
  • The ability to demonstrate a variety of field techniques*
  • The ability to write up a field project*
  • The ability to conduct self-evaluation of essays
  • The ability to demonstrate good essay writing practice.
  • Improve presentation skills within a small group format
  • The ability to evaluate the seminar skills of peers
