Exclusions
Description Students registered on the Chemistry with Study Abroad degree programme spend their third year abroad in a Host University. During this time they attend lectures and undertake practical/project work, as determined jointly by the Student and their Year Abroad Tutor. Thus, for example, students may elect to take modules to address an area of weakness or an area of interest, although it is generally expected that students will opt for Chemically related modules. The period abroad allows students to practice their written and spoken language skills where the placement is in a country for which English is not the usual language spoken. A very important aspect of the placement period is language/culture experience.
Learning Outcomes By the end of the module students should be able to:
  • Satisfy the Learning Outcomes as stated in the module descriptions of the Host University. Subject specific Learning Outcomes will depend upon the combination of theory and practical/project modules taken by an individual student.
  • Communicate proficiently (in writing and orally) in the language of the Host country (where English is not the usual language spoken).
Assessment 26000-01 : Continual Assessment : Coursework (100%)
Assessment Methods & Exceptions Assessments: These will depend upon the individual module(s) selected for study by the student. It is fully expected that students on Placements Abroad will follow the same Teaching, Learning and Assessment patterns as Home Students of the Host Institution.

Reassessment: opportunities for reassessment are dependent on the host university.
