Description This module gives students the opportunity to apply their theoretical knowledge and skills, to an authentic challenge, in collaboration with a community organisation. Students will undertake a minimum of 75 hours voluntary placement work within a sport or setting. Students will be introduced to the priciniples of becoming enterprising and active citizens as they work on collaborative projects, Students will work in small groups with the organisation to identify a mutually interesting challenge and design an appropriate project. This could be research on an area of concern, evaluating existing provision, or designing resources for the organisation, for example. The group will then conduct the project, and create one multimedia presentation summarising their findings and recommendations.

As individuals, students will produce an executive report for the organisation, summarising their project, findings and recommendations. They will also complete a short personal reflection interview.

NB BSc Professional Golf Studies students will normally work at their usual site of employment instead of completing the 50 hours, and will complete the project and assessments individually).
Learning Outcomes By the end of the module students should be able to:
  • Demonstrate and apply the skills of creative thinking, independent learning, utilising resources and relevant information and to seek expert advice as necessary
  • Work collaboratively to identify, design, and conduct a project in a community organisation
  • Work as a group to develop appropriate evidence based recommendations for the organisation. (BSc Professional Golf Studies will complete this piece individually.)
  • Work as a group to resent recommendations in an accessible, thoughtful and accurate multimedia presentation. (BSc Professional Golf Studies will complete this piece individually.)
  • As an individual, produce an executive report summarising the project’s conduct, findings and recommendations
