Description This module develops a basic understanding of the principles of mechanics. Statics, kinematics and dynamics will be covered.
Learning Outcomes By the end of the module students should be able to:
  • Understand and apply the basic laws of statics, kinematics and dynamics in simple linear and rotating systems.
  • Show a basic understanding of Simple Harmonic Motion
Assessment 34675-01 : continuous assessment : Coursework (50%)
34675-02 : exam : Exam (School Arranged) - Open Book (50%)
Assessment Methods & Exceptions Assessment:

30% Continuous Assessment (two assignments and one class test)
70% End of Session Exam (2 hours)

Reassessment:

100% Exam in Supplementary period (2 hours)
