Description This module introduces the fundamental concepts of life cycle assessment as a means of assessing the environmental impact of products and processes. Students will be taught the underpinning concepts of life cycle assessment, as well as the methodologies used in life cycle assessment.
Learning Outcomes By the end of the module students should be able to:
  • Explain the underpinning methodologies of a life cycle assessment;
  • Perform a life cycle assessment using the appropriate tools;
  • Critically analyse life cycle assessment studies;
  • Explain the benefits and challenges associated with life cycle analysis.
