Exclusions
Description This module builds upon the knowledge of spectroscopy and analytical techniques developed in Year 2 extending this to advanced techniques used by professional chemists. Key concepts from Year 1 and 2 are revisited to facilitate a deeper understanding of these concepts and their application to advanced chemistry topics. A holistic approach to the learning of chemistry is promoted with a focus on the development of problem-solving skills.

Learning Outcomes By the end of the module students should be able to:
  • Apply chemical concepts developed throughout the course to solve unseen synoptic problems
  • Analyse a range of spectroscopic and analytical data to rationalise chemical structure and properties
  • Develop skills in dataset interpretation to corroborate chemical hypotheses
Assessment
Assessment Methods & Exceptions Assessment:

Coursework including online assessments; portfolio, assessed problems (100%)
