This module will support Biosciences students to develop the knowledge, skills, and motivation required to become socially responsible and entrepreneurial scientists and citizens of a sustainable future. It will consider the relationship between science and society, including how science can and should be conducted and communicated to the wider community, from the public to specialist audiences. The module will provide an opportunity for students to explore and experience enterprise and entrepreneurship through a variety of real-world examples, enabling them to develop behaviours, attributes and competencies that enhance their employability. With teamwork and communication as key enterprising competencies, this module will involve a long-term team project in which students cultivate their entrepreneurial mindsets to produce creative and sustainable solutions to real-world challenges faced by the life sciences sector. As part of this journey, students through reflective practice will identify and articulate skills and graduate attributes acquired on their programme. These insights together with networking opportunities including a life sciences careers festival will enable students to proactively craft and pursue their professional futures.
This module prepares students for essential features of the final year, including the independent research project, and will be delivered through a series of lectures, workshops and research work, integrated with tutorials delivered by the personal academic tutor.

Create outputs that communicate complex scientific ideas to different audiences from the public to discipline experts.
