To get the students, under supervision of an academic member of staff, to carry out an individual project and to present the work both through a final report and demonstration. On completion of this module, students should be able to: Study a problem independently Gather, organise and distil information from various sources, summarise the information succinctly, and draw general conclusions; Exercise initiative and independence in the planning and execution of a project, and manage time and resources competently Design a solution to an engineering problem, which will include one or more of the following: Construction and testing of hardware or software solutions Simulation/modelling and testing Analysis and inference Critically appraise results, and present the essential features and conclusions clearly and coherently in both written and oral forms. An excellent student will additionally be able to Design an innovative solution, informed by the forefront of knowledge, to a new engineering problem |
