A consideration of food security as defined by the WHO. Aspects of insecurity and the mechanisms to manage them will be addressed including, for example :
¿ Deliberate contamination
¿ Infrastructure issues
¿ Food safety management systems
¿ Global sourcing
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the module the student should be able to:
Identify the main contributors (according to the WHO) to making a community food secure
Demonstrate awareness of risks to food security globally and in the UK
Describe appropriate responses to perceived risks such as those used by government and the industry
Critically evaluate published documents relating to aspects of food chain security.
