Description This module will equip students for the major research project through:
a) Independent study of advanced IT skills;
b) Development of verbal and written communication skills;
c) Development of skills relevant to literature research, and the writing of a critical research review;
d) Development of knowledge relating to the railway research environment;
e) Engagement with a wide range of railway related research and operation topics.
Learning Outcomes By the end of the module, the student should be able to:

1. Independently upgrade skills in IT in order to become more efficient researchers and communicators.

2. Engage with constructive criticism to improve communication skills.

3. Research and write a critical literature review.

4. Demonstrate an understanding of the railway research environment.

5. Demonstrate a broad appreciation of research developments in the railway industry
