Description
IT trends in the business environment; building management information systems; business process re-engineering; enterprise resource planning; future trends and cloud computing.
What is simulation? Progressive model building. The dynamics of stochastic systems. Verification, validation and experimentation; simplification, and the limitations of simulation.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the module students should be able to:
Critically evaluate the applicability and use of various types of Management Information Systems for the purpose of improving performance in particular areas of industry, commerce and the public sector.
Assess the performance of manufacturing and systemically similar systems by formulating, building and experimenting with discrete simulation models.
