Description IT trends in the business environment; building management information systems; business process re-engineering; enterprise resource planning; future trends and cloud computing.

What is simulation? Progressive model building. The dynamics of stochastic systems. Verification, validation and experimentation; simplification, and the limitations of simulation.
Learning Outcomes By the end of the module students should be able to:
  • Critically evaluate the applicability and use of various types of Management Information Systems for the purpose of improving performance in particular areas of industry, commerce and the public sector.
  • Assess the performance of manufacturing and systemically similar systems by formulating, building and experimenting with discrete simulation models.
