Description The module covers compositional and marketing standards for foods. In addition it includes the mandatory requirements relating to information provided to consumers including labelling and packaging that allow them to make informed choices
Learning Outcomes By the end of the module students should be able to:
  • Detail and critically analyse the different aspects covered by the subject of Food Standards
  • Understand the importance of compositional and marketing standards and the range of food covered
  • Understand the principles of food information and the mandatory provisions
  • Identify and evaluate the key areas to investigate when assessing whether a food complies with food standards
